Get Fresh! Contemporary Letterpress

Spark up your creative spirit by cranking some fresh designs you’ve created using new school approaches with old school machinery.  This class will combine both hands-on and theoretical methods of contemporary letterpress. We will review current trends, learn how to select the right paper for your future projects, gain an overview of letterpress machinery, learn digital file preparation for photopolymer plates, and many other nitty-gritty details on a Vandercook press.

Projects include:

120 one-color business cards (estimated value $150)

30 Personal stationery sets:  flat cards with printed envelopes (estimated value $200)

A collaborative art print (priceless!)

Time:  15 hours (5 Weekly 3-hour classes)

5 Saturdays: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. (days to be scheduled)

Fee: $450*

Level: Beginner to Intermediate, ages 15 and up.  Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite required.  (Additional fees may apply to students who are not familiar with Adobe Illustrator).

*Includes all materials needed (paper, envelopes, plates, ink) and learning mad skills from a fine art AND commercial printer
